Digestive health is important

Most of the antibodies are located along the small intestine and colon. Therefore, gastrointestinal health need to be maintained for the sake of optimal child development.

Gastrointestinal health and immune system can be maintained by the balance of microbes in the gastrointestinal tract. The body should have a lot more good than microbes harmful microbes. This statement Saptawati Bardosono, nutritionist doctor from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (Faculty of medicine), Jakarta (25/2/2014).

If in the digestive tract microbes more harm than beneficial microbes, then the child will easily fall ill. And when a child is sick, antibiotics are given, then the good microbes increasingly depleted.

Along the intestinal immune system is supported microbial probiotic supplements. Probiotics are live microorganisms which, when consumed in sufficient quantities will have a positive impact on health.

Probiotics can survive and thrive if it gets prebiotic intake, ie substances in food that can not be digested, but increase the growth of good bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Source of probiotics, such as dairy products, cheese, and yugurt. The prebiotic substances can be obtained from banana, garlic, and honey.

In the womb, the child must receive proper nutrition. It takes awareness of parents to read food product labels carefully before buying. Do not forget to look for foods containing probiotic bacteria, such as Lactobacillus paracasei or Bifidobacterium longum.
