Researchers Discover New Species of Frogs Five Jambi
Research in the past senior secondary forests and secondary forests at the lower edge of the jungle hope Jambi and South Sumatra has discovered 50 frog species year. Five species of which is suspected of new species.
The fifth of these species live in forest complex, among others, at the height of the canopy. Five species of the family Microhyla, Kalophrynus, Hylarana (swamp), Hylarana (river), and Polypedates arrived. "The number of species of frogs discovered in different forest habitats indicates a very complex condition that is still awake," said conservation biologist at the University Hamburg Germany, Andre Jankowski in Jambi.
In addition to the Forest of Hope, I conducted research on a range of habitat types of lowland forest in Sumatra, namely, primary forests and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park and degraded forests to oil palm plantations.
In that study, Andre has also discovered 22 new species of forest habitat specifically for Esperanza. Some of these unique species as Nyctixalus baladica living in low-hole wood, which is a type of frog Rhacophorus pardalis species flying above the canopy, and Methaphrynella Sundana living in tree holes and the hole in which quarry 'application makes the instrument sound and microdiscus Limnonectes lay their eggs on the ground.
According to Andre, the diversity of species of frogs in a wooded area indicates the complexity of the local forest habitat. To find out where the Polypedates family, you can bet that the forest and no good. "To be able to live in the canopy of a frog, a long training process took habitat can support," he said.
Currently, there are at least 117 species of amphibians and 240 species of reptiles in Sumatra. Their existence is threatened by forest clearing and settlement in the garden. (ita)
