Generation Drop Bear Threatened

Honey Bear (Helarctos malayanus) increasingly threatened. Increased confiscated sun bears are entrusted to rehab and wildlife protection agencies have not answered the problem. Confiscation of animals that continued, maintenance costs increase, but not all can be reintroduced.

Honey Bear is the smallest of the eight bear species in the world. Honey Bear is an animal that is calm, not loud. Habitat in the forests of Southeast Asia, including the islands of Borneo and Sumatra. But its existence is threatened due to continued forest encroached upon and destroyed, in addition to the threat of poaching and forest fires.

Species endemic to Southeast Asia in the category status of endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The number of animals in the world are now less than 25,000 head and continued to shrink in the last 30 years. (pre)
